It can be hard to trust Valve, but I think it's easier to do so now that they've once again announced a momentous event that many said would never happen!

That's right, it's a L4D1/L4D2 crossover! The Surivors finally meet the Saints!

This is not a fanfic. This is not a wet dream. This is a DLC!

The DLC is scheduled to launch in early 2010 and contains a campaign called The Passing. Set after the conclusion of Dead Center, the Saints (aka the L4D2 Survivors), pass through a small town in rural Georgia, where by happenstance they meet up with the original survivors from L4D1.

Quoth the Lombardi:
"The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign. It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry."]


Guess Francis and Ellis get to meet after all. :D

Heh, that sounds pretty awesome. Can't say I'm too surprised though since everyone was expecting it to happen anyway. :p

More like Francis and Nick, i'm sure they'll make a great pair against... zombies...

Though I am unsure what this "DLC" stands for, as if they're going to include the original 4 survivors in a L4D2 DLC, that simply makes L4D obsolete and will just make other people rage, albeit the best idea, and hopefully the one that becomes true, is simply making L4D and L4D2 playable with each other, like the Company of Heroes series have been doing since the 1st Expansion Pack (Opposing Fronts)

DownLoadable Content. Honestly what will sell it for me is if you can do 8 player normal games then.

Has anyone heard anything about this lately? I know it's Valve and LOLVALVETIME but I'm really anxious to hear more. I miss the Survivors.

Two videos and a rundown of some new stuff over at Rock Paper Shotgun.

For those who cba to watch:

  • New primary slot weapon: M60 Machinegun. Similar behaviour to the M79: limited pool of ammo that cannot be restocked.
  • New pistol/melee slot weapon: Golf club. FORE!head!
  • New uncommon infected: Fallen Survivor. Attempts to flee when injured, drops health kits when killed.
  • Release is "later this month"
  • Soon after: comic tie-in covering end of L4D1 to the start of this campaign
  • After that: more L4D1 DLC

Huh, so they're putting the fallen survivor in an actual campaign now? It's actually already in the game and you can spawn him with the console, but it's kind of broken apparently.

From the videos I've seen of the fallen survivor already in the game (and the one Munch posted) he drops a live molotov when killed from the front. I hope to goodness sake that he does NOT drop a medpack when he dies, there's already 15 per stage anyway.
