July '09 Maptest

Postby Jinx » Thu Jul 09, 2009 12:44 pm

Well it's that time again folks and we are well overdue for another maptest. We've built up a large number of maps to test so this time around we're going to be doing things a little bit differently. Instead of just running through all the maps in one night, we'll be setting up TFP5 so that the mapcycle will only include just a small portion of the maps that need to be tested and then every week or so we'll swap them out for others (rock the vote will probably be disabled to ensure all the maps get some time in). A map voting plugin is going to be used that will poll you guys every so often on how you feel about the map so you can just join the server whenever and play normally to get a feel for the map :) As a final note, some of the maps are especially suited towards our fun server (TFP3) so when voting don't give a map a low score just because it might be crazy/silly, instead vote on how much you enjoy the map :P

WHEN: Phase I will start on Monday, July 13th
WHERE: TFP #5 [ 67.209.178.30:27042 ]

Maps to be tested:

Phase I

Phase II

Phase III

Phase IV

This is our current map listing. Pathia has provided a map pack containing all of the maps to be tested which can be grabbed here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GPY9X1LN. Although not yet determined, we will also be looking back at our current line up of custom maps to see if any have fallen out of favor and should be retired (ctf_dirtwork is pretty much guaranteed to get the axe).

See you then!

I can probably help out with the testing. I should be back this Monday. Will it be occurring all day? If so, I'd be delighted to provide some assistance with this.

I have a cousin who is part of a variety of major forging guilds in Halo 3. He had me help him out in testing/rating others maps for a Top 100 list on his clan's site. Being more familiar with TF2 mechanics, I can likely provide some amount of constructive criticism on playing them.

Yeah it'll be going 24/7 so to speak with each phase lasting about a week or until we get a good amount of feedback.

I look forward to offering my inane and ill-informed opinions. Whether they're useful for evaluating the maps or just pointing and laughing at, I leave up to you. :P

There are 1 or 2 missing from my pak there, but the vast bulk is in there. I'm working on an update, I'll edit this post to include the link soon.

Tada!

Um, I realize this might be a bit late (and may not appeal to everyone) but...

Balloon Race got an update.

Could we try that out?
